Purpose
This guide helps you make your MedicalIntent Emergency Access Page easy to find in an emergency using:
- your phone’s built-in Emergency Medical ID feature, and
- your physical Emergency ID materials (wallet card and stickers).
1) iPhone (Apple Medical ID)
A. Add your MedicalIntent Emergency Access Link
- Open the Health app.
- Tap your profile icon (top right) → Medical ID.
- Tap Edit.
-
In Notes, add the following line, then paste your unique MedicalIntent emergency link on the next line:
MedicalIntent Emergency Information QR card in wallet. Backup access link below. [PASTE YOUR LINK HERE] - Turn on Show When Locked.
- Tap Done.
B. Test access (recommended)
On a locked iPhone, Medical ID is accessed from the passcode/emergency screen.
- Wake the phone → go to the passcode screen → tap Emergency → tap Medical ID.
- Confirm the “MedicalIntent Emergency Access Link” line is visible.
2) Android (Modern Android phones)
Android menus vary by manufacturer. These steps cover the most common modern setup and a universal fallback.
A. Standard path (Google Safety / Personal Safety)
- Open the Safety app (sometimes called Personal Safety).
- Tap Your info → Medical information.
-
Add the following label to a notes/other field (or any free-text field available), then paste your unique MedicalIntent emergency link:
MedicalIntent Emergency Information QR card in wallet. Backup access link below. [PASTE YOUR LINK HERE]
B. Universal fallback (works when menus differ)
- Open Settings.
- Use the Settings search bar and type Emergency.
- Open Emergency information / Safety & emergency / similar.
- Add the same label + link as above.
C. Test access (recommended)
- Lock your phone, then access Emergency information from the lock screen (the exact button varies by phone).
- Confirm your MedicalIntent link is visible.
3) Samsung Galaxy (One UI)
- Open Settings → Safety and emergency → Medical info.
-
Add:
MedicalIntent Emergency Information QR card in wallet. Backup access link below. [PASTE YOUR LINK HERE] - Turn on Show on Lock screen.
- Save.
4) Physical placement (wallet card + stickers)
A. Wallet card
- Place the wallet card in the most visible, front-facing slot.
- Avoid burying it behind stacked cards.
B. Sticker placement
Choose locations that are visible, scannable, and likely to be found quickly.
Good placements:
- Back of your phone case in an open area (not over the camera, not under a pop-socket/grip).
- Inside a clear phone case where the code is still visible without removing the case.
- On a rigid surface that doesn’t flex (flat areas scan more reliably than curved or textured areas).
- On a frequently carried medical item if you have one (e.g., medication travel case, inhaler pouch, epinephrine case).
- On a key-tag / luggage tag–style holder that stays with what you carry daily (keys, bag zipper pull, gym bag tag).
Avoid:
- High-wear edges (wallet seams, corners that rub constantly).
- Surfaces that peel quickly (oily/leather-textured areas, fabric, rubberized soft-touch).
- Any spot where the code will be covered (opaque case interiors, behind cards, under grips).
C. Verify your physical materials
When your materials arrive:
- Confirm the QR code is clean and scannable.
- Confirm the printed link and code match your Emergency Access Page by scanning once with a normal phone camera.
If there is any printing issue or mismatch, contact support and we will replace the affected item(s) at no charge.
